Romeo and Juliet Play Sets

Romeo: armor Juliet: flower Friar Lawrence: punk globes Nurse: tissue box Benvolio: white creepy smiling mask Tybalt: metal sword Mercutio: Plastic dagger Paris: huge gold ring like a size of a fist The Capulet: big metal Staff Prince: huge extremely high crown I want the play more like the Chalk circle and the Movie version of Romeo and Juliet. This means everyone in the show except Romeo and Juliet needs to act crazy. They should start normal. While Mercutio appears, everyone can act more crazy bit by bit. The world here goes wrong like a mistake appears in computer. Romeo and Juliet should remain mostly normal and at the end, seeing each other dead, they turn crazy finally and kill themselves. The show should thus end there and omit the part of the families reconciliation. The craziness of the people around Romeo and Juliet provides a good sense of isolation and lonelyness. It not only serves for the love in first sight but also serves for the depression the two charact...

Romeo and Juliet Act 5

Scene 1: Romeo has a dream about Juliet finding him dead A message comes, not from friar Lawrence but Juliet's death Romeo decides to go back to see Juliet  Romeo buys poison from an apothecary  1. Romeo's dream is another foreshadowing of their death 2. Romeo wishes to have the strongest poison and the most violent one. He wants to die in pain  Scene 2: Friar John comes back and tells Friar Lawrence that he was trapped and being suspected carrying the plague. Friar Lawrence thus knows that Romeo didn't get his message but doesn't know that Romeo knows Juliet is "dead" and planing to kill himself  Friar Lawrence is going to take Juliet in his cell and keep her there. 1. Everything goes wrong. 2. There are too many unexpected happens and lead the plot going to a tragedy. Scene 3: Paris comes to Juliet's tomb with flowers Paris calls page to go off Romeo comes to Juliet's tomb Romeo threats his friend to go off Romeo t...

Meaty Paragraph

The Capulets are responsible for the Romeo and Juliet's death. There are many angles that their actions causes Juliet and Romeo's death. They are responsible for the family hatred. Their lack of communication with Juliet also is the main reason leading to R and J's death. The family hatred has lasted for years and yet not been solved. The hatred is so dominant that the servants of the two families hate each other. As the leaders of one of the family, the Capulets are responsible for lasting the hatred. Without the hatred, R and J can live and be marry in public eyes. In addition, Tybalt would not come to Romeo and Romeo would not kill him and be banished if the two families are in a good relationship. Without Romeo's banishment, Juliet would not drink the potion and R would not think Juliet is dead and kill himself. They also have little communication with their daughter Juliet. In the Act 3 scene 5, Lord Capulet keep saying "she" to refer Juliet even Juliet i...

In class writing

1. I think Mercutio is the one who causes his own death. In the beginning of the Act 3 scene 1, Mercutio acts aggressively to Benvolio. Himself at this point has already shown his willing to fight anyone that comes into his mind. Mercutio has potential to engage into a fight very easily no matter who is the one he is going to fight with. After Tybalt comes, Mercutio constantly trying to find excuse from Tybalt's language so that he can fight with Tybalt. He tries to twist the word "consort" into "minstrels". He also tries to use Romeo's compromization as somewhat cowardness to fight Tybalt to show he is a real man. Mercutio is provocative because his arrogance. No matter if Romeo will go between Tybalt and Mercutio or not, Mercutio is very likely to die because his arrogance. Tybalt is coming to kill Romeo, although initially not offending Mercutio, Tybalt has determined to kill a person. When Mercutio stands out, Tybalt's target transfer to Mercutio ...

Mercutio has no clear motive to fight Tybalt. He is not protecting Romeo, I think he just wants to fight. 2. Mercutio is angry with the term "consort" he thinks he is good 3. Pp. 108 "good Capulet-which name I tender as dearly as mine own-be satisfied." Romeo willing to turn the two households together Sence 2: Juliet is waiting for nurse's respond Nurse says Tybalt is killed by Romeo and Romeo is banished Juliet curses Romeo Juliet be comforted that Romeo is alive Juliet feels sad because Romeo is banished Nurse suggests finding...

Blog #6 Friar Lawrence is a peacekeeper

I agree that Friar Lawrence is a peacekeeper. He never presents in any family conflict so far. He is also a monk that generally promotes peace on the land. However, strong evidence that indicates him as a peacekeeper is mostly shown in his conversations between Romeo and Juliet. By using controversial prove method, we can see that Friar Lawrence is a peacekeeper. This blog will discuss Friar Lawrence's action by order as the play progresses. Friar Lawrence first appears in the Act 2 Scene 3. He talks about the power of nature and how controversial it is. There is an important foreshadowing in his speech about “Within the infant rind of this weak flower Poison hath residence and medicine power.” It foreshadows the love that leads Romeo and Juliet’s death and consequently leads the Montague and the Capulet’s reconciliation. The speech also indicates that he believes that hatred can be reversed by love and no more conflicts will occur. Under this consideration, Friar Lawrence tends t...

Blog #5

The status of the Capulet and the Montague are similar, but the two families are the enemy for a long time. This means their conflicts are dramatic. What the two family should do might be completely different. Especially in lifestyle. Although the play does not suggest what business the families are on. However, the family hatred might come from business. They might have different kinds of roles in the city that have conflicts. This can be seen in the costumes. For example, some family members can dress like they are from a hospital, some can dress like munitioners. The two careers have conflict in most of the business they make. Even on morality, they have conflict, too. One is saving people’s lives while the other is taking the lives. To show the conflict and make them more visualized, the costumes can also have contrast colors for each side. Black for the Montague and White for the Capulet. This the easiest example can the most obvious one. For the stage, we can set the mansi...

Quiz 1

1.             I do believe Romeo and Juliet fall in love at the first sight. However, the person they fall in love with is not necessary each other. Meaning Romeo is not necessary to fall in love with Juliet, it can be any person, at this stage. Same as Juliet. These two people are in their age of loving. They do not have a sense of the love or the responsibility behind it but are desiring attention and recognition from the people of their age. In the case of Romeo, he falls in love to someone and change his mind too quickly and too hard. He first falls in love with Rosaline and almost exhausted from the unrequited love. However, as soon as he meets Juliet, he thinks he “ne’er saw true beauty till this night.” He then tries to approach Juliet and his love is recognized. He then is happy and falls deeper in love with her. View back from the beginning, most of the decision Romeo made were opposed by his friend and his cousin. Neither does Rosaline. Maybe it...
