The Glass Menagerie Written Coursework The Glass Menagerie is a personal play full of remorse. Tom, as an unreliable narrator and the main character of the play , shows two layers of the story. One layer is his memory that is delivered as the basic storyline, while the other layer is his ostinato-like emotion underlies all of the memories of his mother Amanda and his sister Laura. (One layer is Tom’s memory and the emotion when he was in St. Louis, while the other layer is his emotion when he is recalling the life he had with his family.) Tom’s opening and the ending monologues show the foundation of all of the stories: penitence. However, this foundation is not apparent until the last scene 7 , where Tom leads himself to the memory of him finally making the decision decided to leave the family in his memory ; plus the monologue at the end, in an almost illusionary reality, where Tom slightly broken down by his memory and shows his penitence of the family. Why Tom feels regret? the relationship between family members, etc. Criterion B: 1. Good illustration of the performance 2. Some unclear analysis that go back to the literary analysis? 3. Less talk about music choices? Criterion C: 1. Grammar errors and typos 2. Not accurate word choices and some confusing words

Jean Valjean accepts the silver the Bishop gives him and decides to live another life without being Jean Valjean. Years later, Jean Valjean becomes the mayor of a town.
