Second Draft: Story: Musical Adaptation Adaptation from: A Wall of Fire Rising Night Woman The Children of the Sea Use these stories to show the relationships between Guy’s family members Summary Reason: Open spaces But interconnections Investigate the relationships between characters in the book Not just who is who’s mother or father But also how their characters are shown between interactions. Dramatic potential: As characters are investigated and shown in relationships A interesting theme can be seen. I saw the theme of Fate and Choice I foreseen the alignment of the theme with many musical elements Body: Describe our production in three domains Theme relates to the musical elements using examples of my performance Repetition (Fate) Theme Under the same culture of Haiti, we want to show the repeating fate in different character Especially in generations Guy and Little Guy killed themse...

Suggestions for Nan

Show these in the intro: Why did you choose these stories? Maybe have summary of the plot? What is the highlight of our production? Maybe more than just the music I think. Acting parts that you would talk about: What did you do on stage to express how Lili feels? What role did you exactly do in the production? Not only as the actor but also…. Can you indicate specific examples (act, scene)? What are your facial expressions? Indicate frowning, etc. Under “Your adaptation” We did follow some plot. Also you can mention how to improve our plot by better indicate the identity of Lili ...

Intro: Story: Background: “Children of the Sea,” “The Wall of Fire Rising,” “Night Women.” Use the background and other clues in the book to construct our story of Guy’s family Reason: I saw the interconnections between Edwight Danticat’s stories. Try to pull the connection together and make a full story. To make my vision of characters relationships 3 dimensional. To stitch the shattered pieces together. Dramatic potential: There are many open spaces for interpretation Who is the night woman? Who is the boy in the Children of the Sea? Why did Guy jump? Did the boy make it to America? By manipulating these open spaces, we can construct a surprising and dramatic story. To fit the theme, I planned to export it as a musical production Body: Literary analysis / Performance Plot: Guy wants to fly on an air balloon but was restricted by Lili. He then sneaks to the balloon. He is afraid and then kills himself. Lili finds...
