The status of the Capulet and the Montague are similar, but the two families are the enemy for a long time. This means their conflicts are dramatic. What the two family should do might be completely different. Especially in lifestyle.
Although the play does not suggest what business the families are on. However, the family hatred might come from business. They might have different kinds of roles in the city that have conflicts. This can be seen in the costumes. For example, some family members can dress like they are from a hospital, some can dress like munitioners. The two careers have conflict in most of the business they make. Even on morality, they have conflict, too. One is saving people’s lives while the other is taking the lives.
To show the conflict and make them more visualized, the costumes can also have contrast colors for each side. Black for the Montague and White for the Capulet. This the easiest example can the most obvious one.
For the stage, we can set the mansion of the Montague and the Capulet in different sides of the stage and make them same in size. Design one mansion be more aggressive, contains stab-like structure on the building; design the other to be more conservative, contains battlements. Therefore to set an obvious contrast between the two families.

Romeo and Juliet's First Expression

The first time that Shakespeare introduces Romeo is by the conversation between Benvolio and Romeo. He is sad about the refusal from the Rosaline. The emotion is so strong that he frustrates himself and unwilling to interact with his friends and parents. Simply say, Romeo is too in love that his love is hurting himself: “ Griefs of my own lie heavy in my breast.” (Romeo and Juliet 21) Later on scene 4, he has worries that something bad will happen during the party and thus unwilling to go. The dialogues Romeo and Mercutio have implied that his anxiety comes from Romeo’s dream. However, it does not suggest the contents of the dream. Based on Romeo previous action about love, I think the dream is about him and Rosaline. He feels fear about meeting Rosaline in the party. Chapter 8: This chapter talks about the journey of Desiree to the grand hotel. I think it not only notes how hard Desiree is on the way to her dream, but also a real state of the island. It was amazing how the author keeps our blinded as peasants in the beginning, not sure where we are. I was confused and scared at first with all the myths. And was blinded with peasants' one side argument about how widely the people on the island detach from each other. But through Desiree's journey, I finds that the trench between the poor and the rich are not as bad as I was imagining. There are different levels of the poor and the rich, Desiree is just unlucky to love the richest one. First I thought the story happens in a fantasy novel, with all the hierarchy and cruel king. I was wrong. It is a modern society, only that our main character comes from a forgotten no where. The narration of the journey thus makes the world of the story more wholistic.
