Interesting because…
  1. There are two generations in the adaptation, and each generation is showing a similar pattern of chasing the dream and departing the old but failed
  2. The rounds and repetitions also allow this adaptation to corporate with music intimately.
  3. The change in costumes and design to indicate different personalities will also be interesting.

  1. There are many characters in this story, but because in each scene, only two characters will be presented, two people can handle the story under a filming setting.

Director's Vision:
  1. Plot
    1. The story starts with an argument between Guy and Lili, this part we can directly copy from the text, without singing. This argument should show Guy’s longing of being free and decent. Maybe add signings after the argument, each displays the desire of the other’s understanding.
    2. The next scene will be Guy alone in the air balloon. It is presented as a monologue or a voice solo. It should displays Guy’s despair when he realizes that he cannot be free eventually. The scene ends without Guy jumping out of the balloon.
      1. When Lili sees Guy’s corpse, she will sing at the end of the Guy’s song, showing her desperation. When Lili goes back home, she became a night woman. This scene could be short, within a short verse. During the song, Little guy grows up and leave the house, without saying anything. The song ends at Lili’s desperation: “why did everybody leaves me?”
    3. The next scene is the argument between Little Guy and the girl. The argument should be similar to the scene 1.
    4. The next scene will be guy alone in the edge of the ship. He throws the book into the water and then jump into the sea. Displaying one possible way of how Guy jumping out of the balloon.
    5. The final scene will be the girl singing why Little Guy left him, surrounded by the butterflies.

    2. Features:
      1. Similar solos or duets should have the same chorus
      2. The structure of the songs follows the Pop music structure
Literary Analysis:

  1. Generations
    1. I will use the similar event and similar characters’ decisions to display the similarities from generations to generations.
    2. Using the similar event, but different social environments to display the changes between the generations and the time period.
    3. Using the contrasting verses and the same chorus will facilitate the concepts.

Romeo and Juliet's First Expression

The first time that Shakespeare introduces Romeo is by the conversation between Benvolio and Romeo. He is sad about the refusal from the Rosaline. The emotion is so strong that he frustrates himself and unwilling to interact with his friends and parents. Simply say, Romeo is too in love that his love is hurting himself: “ Griefs of my own lie heavy in my breast.” (Romeo and Juliet 21) Later on scene 4, he has worries that something bad will happen during the party and thus unwilling to go. The dialogues Romeo and Mercutio have implied that his anxiety comes from Romeo’s dream. However, it does not suggest the contents of the dream. Based on Romeo previous action about love, I think the dream is about him and Rosaline. He feels fear about meeting Rosaline in the party. Instead of solving the problem, as Benvolio and Mercutio suggest to examine other women, Romeo’s first expression is to escape and turn himself back into his comfort zone. MLML 8-10 notes

Chapter 8: This chapter talks about the journey of Desiree to the grand hotel. I think it not only notes how hard Desiree is on the way to her dream, but also a real state of the island. It was amazing how the author keeps our blinded as peasants in the beginning, not sure where we are. I was confused and scared at first with all the myths. And was blinded with peasants' one side argument about how widely the people on the island detach from each other. But through Desiree's journey, I finds that the trench between the poor and the rich are not as bad as I was imagining. There are different levels of the poor and the rich, Desiree is just unlucky to love the richest one. First I thought the story happens in a fantasy novel, with all the hierarchy and cruel king. I was wrong. It is a modern society, only that our main character comes from a forgotten no where. The narration of the journey thus makes the world of the story more wholistic.
