In Class Writing

For Lesley's group:

Strength:
The group used props wisely. Although there is no custom, but the characteristic of each performer are well established by movement. The level was also well established. There are three layers, and performers are scattered on the bridge, the bed, and the bench. The plotting is good, too.

Weakness:
The sound in the video is inaudible. It is hard to tell the choice of the sections of the poem. However, from the length of the video, the group might recite the whole poem. It is hard to see other weakness in term of the recitation because it is hard to hear things.

For Stella's group:

Strength:
The division of the poem, into three parts, and the transition of each part is thoughtful. The way the group's performers forming a triangle and alternate the speaker is simple but catching. Although I do not understand the last Spanish part, I can tell that it fits into the context of the poem well.

Weakness:
This can be both strength and the weakness of this performance. There is not many movement in this performance. The group seems static during the plaint recitation. However, the stillness could make the transition and the rare moving parts noticeable and make the audience pay more attention on the poem itself.

For Helen's group:

Strength:
The acting of the group is great. Almost every movement in the performance is well constructed into the rhythm of the poem. It provides a possibility of the interpretation of the poem by delivering lines in choreography. It fits the duration of each line and there is no noticeable gap between each "visual line." The music also creates a good feeling of dream-like color to the performance while the meter is moderate and soothing.

Weakness:
The reader laughed, and then everybody laughed. If the performers can be more serious, and more proud, of their production, the whole performance will seem less awkward or less cheesy.

For Nan's group:

Strength:
I like the rhythm!!! Wow I never thought it could turn out into a rap!!! Also, the music might be kill the Alice? The choice of the music is brilliant because it indicates the rhythm of the poem. The repetition in the singing and the choice of the sections in the poem is great, too. And it has singing part so its varied, I love it.

Weakness:
I don't really understand the tone of the performance. About the choice of the music, it sounds dark, so I am curious about the interpretation of the poem for this group.

For Grace's group:

Strength:
The poem is well read, the meter and the words are clear and audible. The rhythm fits the pace of the music, too. There is some levels in the performance, wisely using the bridge. The pacing of the performers also fit in the rhythm of the music as well.

Weakness:
No obvious shortcoming. The music choice is good and the performers definitely practice a lot.

For our group:

Strength:
The marching established a fast-paced rhythm. The sudden stop of the speaker and resuming the lines on the bridge draws attention from the audience. The choice of the sections also fasten the pace of the poem.

Weakness:
Fasten pace also means less toleration of the mistake. The whole group was not very well coordinated in term of the pace. Sometimes people do not get to the middle of the bridge and interrupted the rhythm. On the other hand, the background music was chosen and added after the video was filmed, the rhythm in some places were off and sound chaotic.
